I opened my eyes and the room was spinning around me. My brain seemed to shift position inside my head every time I tried to get up. I had no control over my limbs, which seemed to have a mind of their own. To make matters worse, any motion brought on bouts of nausea. My fianc rushed me to the hospital. When I arrived, the physicians could not figure out what was wrong with me, and maintaining a positive outlook became difficult.
My physicians later informed me that my prognosis was favorable, and that my symptoms would be temporary and were related to the Chicken Pox that I contracted a month ago. One of the lesions burst in my inner ear, which caused my dizziness and lack of motor control. The only cure was plenty of rest.
This medical emergency gave me an opportunity to reflect on my life and my unrealized dream of becoming a physician...
