Would you buy a $35,000 4x4 if there were nowhere to use it? I know that I wouldn't. "The number of Americans driving off road vehicles increased from 19.4 million in 1983 to 27.9 million in 1995" (Curtis 1). "From 1991 to 1996 Sports Utility Vehicles increased rapidly in sales by 14.5% and the reason for this is because they appear to offer safety, image, and a go anywhere attitude" (Porter 1). There have been many articles written about closing the off road accesses to the wilderness. This frightens me because I love to go four wheeling. This is because environmentalists are trying to say that off roading causes severe destruction to the forest...
