A Question of Taste For some of us ‘artistic’ mean something we can see and think of, as a nude statue or picture where people are laughing, talking, fighting or doing any of every day activities. The Mesopotamians made images of strange gods (Fiero). The Greeks made statues, paintings, and plays about immortal gods directing the fates of men, and also of sports, sex and other worldly pleasures. Then, Kandinsky brought a change in the artistic history through his believe that specific, identifiable objects in his paintings ‘harm’ the work (Kandinsky). If we accept art as the effort to communicate our emotions, memories or understandings to a visual experience than we comprehend that Kandinsky’s non-objective paintings are not more ‘artistic’ than Michelangelo’s or Rembrandt’s works. Michelangelo Buonarotti was one of the greatest artists of all time. His name has become synonymous with the word "masterpiece". He articulated the ideas of the Renaissance passing from "realism" to the "beautiful". Because of his humanistic studies, his sculptures and paintings expressed a muscular human body in detail that represented the ideal of beauty.
