Machiavellian President In Today s Society

Machiavelli once wrote, " Well organized states and wise princes have, with great diligence, taken care not to anger the nobles and to satisfy the common people and keep them contented." This being said a Machiavellian president would not do our society the justice it deserves. A president should not worry about satisfying the common people. They should be more concerned in dealing with the major issues in our society. A Machiavellian president in today's society would cause much chaos and many riots, this all stemming from the fact that our society cannot handle the harsh realities that Machiavelli stated a prince should have.
Presidential candidates should be stern and caring, contrary to Machiavelli. He once stated, "On cruelty and mercy and whether it is better to be loved than to be feared or the contrary." (Machiavelli 43) In order to be a great leader you need to be stern, but not to the point of becoming a dictator. Also an American President needs to be caring but not so caring that his/her duties as President are affected. If and then his/her duties have been negatively affected, they would need to annul all the problems surrounding the situation to make sure he/she is not turning into a so-called "softy...
