The existence of evil varies due to people's different perspectives, so it is very hard to answer this question directly. In some people's sense, most people are surrounded by evil, it is the term that comes to mind first when someone or something is being mean or unjust. Usually, when an injustice occurs is either because we ourselves are the victims of some horrible events or we point out those who are. People would think this way is because they recognize that whatever it was that happened could have happened to them. The quickest way to answer whether evil exists, if people define evil just as nothing but a thought, then evil exists. Because it's just a concept in people's mind.
Those people who have confronted the perpetrators of the evil we have deemed to exist know that evil is called justified self-interest by those who enjoy its advantages. And whether evil exists becomes a question of whether or not one benefits from the events that have taken place. But if the concept of evil is to have meaning, it is the perpetrators, not the victims, who must be able of recognizing its reality.
People think evil is something bad and they all know about it when they see it, they think most of the time only the wrong people ever see it...
