On December 12th 1935, one of the most secret and horrifying Nazi project was created. The project was called Lebensborn which means the spring of life, and was started by a man named Heinrich Himmler. The project was to offer young girls to have racially pure children with the SS officers. The children then were given to the SS organization, for education and adoption.
The SS nurseries started off as lying-in hospitals for women to give birth. Most of the women were married to soldiers and officers of the military. Although thousand of women were accepted there were still racial requirements. Women needed proof that all four of their grandparents were Aryan, and did not have any genetic defects. Eventually the SS nurseries turned into meeting places for pure German women to meet and make babies with officers.
On a terrifying note, children were being kidnapped in the eastern countries by the SS organization...
