Jean-Louis Lebris de Kerouac, better known as Jack Kerouac, is one of America's greatest authors of all time. Jack Kerouac was born on March 12, 1922 in the city of Lowell, which is located in the state of Massachusetts. His native language was a type of French called joual. He did not learn to speak English until the age of six. Jack's childhood was very hard for him to handle. His parents were Leo and Gabrielle Kerouac who were both French-Canadian living in New England. Jack also had two older siblings, Gerard and Caroline (Nin). Gerard was born in 1917, and three years later Caroline was born. At the age of nine, in the year 1926, Gerard, Jack's older brother, died of a fever. This was very hard for Jack since he loved and idolized his brother, and especially at the age of four he was not able to understand the reason why his brother had to go, even after the long months of suffering his brother had been through...
