The Law of Love
The book I read was called "The Law of Love", by Laura Esquivel. This story takes place in Mexico, in the 2080's.
Auzacena Martinez, is an astroanalyst, who helps people recover memories of past lives. Auzacena meets her twin soul, Rodrigo. They are happy until soon after they meet Rodrigo is captured and sent to a land of primitive Kormians. His memory has been erased, and he does not have any recollection of Auzacena. Auzacena desperately tries to find Rodrigo, who in a former life had been her father. Auzacena, asks the help of her friend Cuquita, who is also in search of meeting her twin soul, but is not permitted because she is married to an abusive alcoholic, paying off for bad Karma in a past life. They travel through many lives trying to restore Rodrigo's memory, however Isabel Gonzalez who was the murderer of Auzacena in a past life, as well as her mother in another, holds the key to reuniting the mates. As Anacreonte, Auzacena's guardian angel tries to guide her to fulfilling her mission Auzacena is fixated on reuniting with Rodrigo...
