High teen birth rates are an important concern because teen mothers and their babies have increased risks to their health, which isn’t thought of during the time of pregnancy. Every person’s dream when having a child is having a healthy child, but being a teen mom I differ. When a teen mother is pregnant she ha several health risks to worry about including pelvis- inflamatury disease, permanent in fertility, ectopic pregnany, septric abortion, and even death. ... But with girls drugs and alcohol isn’t the case pregnancy is. Teen mothers are more likely to drop out of school than girls addicted to drugs and alcohol. Only 64 percent of teen mothers graduated from high school 2 years after they would have graduated. ... In today’s society, teachers talk about drugs, alcohol, and std’s 90 percent of the time, but they never talk about teen pregnancy which is a major factor in African- American and Caucasian girls.
