My Philosophy of Education
Michael Coppock
As a Christian and an ordained Minister with a degree in Christian Education, my foundational philosophy of education is that children must be spiritually grounded in the Biblical teachings of Jesus Christ. I believe this spiritual foundation is the basis for the development of moral, physical, emotional and intellectual dimensions of life in order for children to truly lead happy and productive lives. My reasons for adopting this philosophy come from the belief that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and that in the Bible, we find the keys for living life to the fullest.
"I (Jesus Christ) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10.
Furthermore, I do not believe it is the responsibility of the school, whether public, private, or religiously based, to bring out a spiritual foundation in children. I believe God has ordained that responsibility to the parents.
"1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."[1] 4Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord...
