Case Study
In this scenario, I will keep the patient alive. First, in doing so, I am avoiding killing, which is one of the principle of the profession of pharmacy. Every single life is precious and worth living. This is an emergency case and a very present situation. Vaccinations are used as prevention and we still have time to deal with providing them at a low cost. For example, we can look for sponsors (government, pharmaceutical companies, and even potential individuals) to assist in providing vaccinations at low cost.
Secondly, as a pharmacist, I should serve community, societal as well as individual needs. The patient is in need and his wife is making decision for him. I should assist him by removing harm and promoting his welfare. The worst that can happen in this case is that the community will have to pay full price for the vaccinations and this is possible...
