The dictionary's definition of motivate is to provide with an incentive; move to action; impel. As educators, we all want to be the force driving our students to achieve success in their educational careers. Motivation is what gets us there. While there are two types of motivation, extrinsic and intrinsic, there are many theories of motivation. The educator may choose to experiment and find out what works for them and for the students in the class. The decision on how to motivate the students plays a significant part in education. It can define the success or failure of a student's education in many ways. In order to succeed, the teacher needs to be motivated to educate the students and the students need to be motivated to learn and do the work. Meanwhile, the school as a working community needs motivated leaders, such as principals, to provide and sustain a flourishing educational environment. All of these elements come together in a hope of providing the best education possible for all types of students...
