JUPITER
One stormy evening after my dad came home from work, my family and I decided to go out somewhere for dinner. Normally while the family is gone Jupiter, my dog is sentenced to stay in the backyard until we come back; however, this night I was concerned about leaving Jupiter outside in the rain while we were gone. After some heavy pleading, my usually inexorable parents agreed to let Jupiter stay inside while we were gone. I thanked them while we opened the door to leave the house.
Jupiter has always had an impulsive instinct to chase after anything that moved. It just so happened that right as my dad opened the front door, a vibrant red robin flew about 2 feet from the porch directly in front of the doorway. Even through the web of arms trying to constrain him, Jupiter managed to bolt out the door in pursuit of the robin. I let out a frustrated grunt as I grabbed the leash and set out to bring Jupiter back.
The robin led Jupiter all the way up the 500-foot-long street. At the end of the street, the robin teased Jupiter for about a minute by flying just out of reach in small circles above his head...
