The freedom of press is valued greatly in America. People rely on the news media to gain education in contemporary issues. The media decides which issues to report and how to report them. You would think the media should give their unbiased findings so people can make their own decision, but instead the media presents biased information to the public. The news media is no longer a reliable source of factual information.
News media affects public interest towards politics and other issues by only showing the people what they want them to see. They will ignore certain issues while concentrating on others that they consider more important. From this, people become interested only in the issues being presented in the media since they hear those issues so often. The people tend to focus on what the media frequently shows rather than the issues of greater importance that are rarely heard of.
