On the Division of Labor Adam Smith realized that there are benefits to the division of labor. Smith notes in his "Wealth of Nations" that the division of labor betters society. Things can be produced more quickly by a greater number of laborers specializing in a single skill than by a single worker attempting various tasks. This one worker may not be an expert on all of the components to complete the entire product. A greater way to do this is to have the workers specialize in one aspect of the product being produced this way all of the workers will be specializing in the one part of the product and the product would be much more sufficient. Smith gave a great example of the pin makers. Smith had saw this at work that there were three men trying to do three different things, this was wasting a lot of time and they were not producing as much product. This is one of the concepts used in many different industries right now and will be for a very long time. I used to work at a fast food joint and we had three to four people working on an assembly line. One person would start the process of making a burrito while the other would put the vegetables in it and the third would wrap it all up...
