n "Black men and public space" Brent Staples observes the hardships, which follow black men in the white society. The main point of this article is that the author has a problem being taken for criminal just because he is black. That is a widespread stereotype. Brent Staples tells about many occurrences that happened to him. Once a young woman was scared of him walking at night and almost ran away. Another day he was mistaken for a burglar and had to prove who he was. Also he was "welcomed" with a Doberman pinscher in the jewelry store while was killing a time before an interview he had.
From Brent Staple's angle of vision stereotype of expecting the offense from a black man goes not only from pure prejudice, but also from the actual facts that black people really prevail in convicting the felony. He does not blame white people, but tries to understand these phenomena and explore the reasons behind them. Brent Staples admits that the crimes of rapes, thefts and burglaries are thought to be committed more by blacks than by whites...
