It is clear to see the cruelty that the sons portray towards their fathers in Elie Weisel's "Night". In my close examination of the book, I found three important factors that explain how the sons could possibly mistreat their fathers.
The first factor is that the people's personalities changed after months of torture. Some people lost their faith in God, and there was no happiness. The SS officers made each person's life a living hell, which caused everyone to be miserable. Soon, people lost hope and love for one another. Sons' didn't share the love they had towards their fathers' before they were brought to the concentration camps. They lost the energy and longing to be with one another.
The second factor is that because of the lack of food, the people became weak and frail. The older people were affected more due to their age...
