The immigration to the Americas was widely practiced by Europeans, particularly those of English nationality. The English settled in different colonies throughout what is present-day United States. Two of the most well established colonies were Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay. Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay colonies were founded with unlike ideologies and, in turn, were vastly differentiated. The Massachusetts Bay Colony was founded to be a utopian society in which everyone would be equal, no matter the social status. Virginia was founded as more of a business investment for making the rich in England richer. The Pilgrims of Massachusetts Bay came to the new world to escape religious oppression in England.
