Hester as a Heroine
On the excellent novel of Nathaniel Hawthorne "The Scarlett Letter" which I will talk more deeply about later on, it has a main character which is a woman called Hester Prynne. She commits adultery with Dimmsdale, someone from church and has been marked with the letter "A" (adultery) on her chest. People see her as a sin, but she moves on and is a very strong woman. In this essay I will decide if she is a heroine to me or not.
Hester Prynne has been having and affair with Dimmesdale from church, she gets pregnant, it would not be such a big deal in this time, but back then when everything and everyone were very harsh it was very wrong, it was even worst if you were married, which Hester was. Hester was condemned to die, but something happened that made that not to happen. Hesters husband was a very mean person, he was out of town when this happens, and when he comebacks he feels very mad. The "jury" does send Hester to jail and make her stand for three hours in front of everyone with her baby in her arms and the scarlett letter on her chest so that everyone can see. Hester is not just standing on the floor, he is standing on a pedestal in the middle of town on which her feet are at the height of another persons shoulders. She is very embarrassed but manages to stay calmed...
