Is an unborn baby actually a human person that feels pain and actually is life, or is it just a potential life? Many pro-choice activists say that the unborn being is human because it belongs to the Homo sapiens species but it is not totally a person so it cannot be fully human. I think that the unborn being is in fact a human baby with rights of a person. First of all, pregnancy starts at conception. The result is called a zygote, which is a single-celled biological being. Every one of us has gone through this stage in human development just like we have gone through infancy, childhood, and adolescence. At this time the zygote is biologically alive without any doubt. There are four principles that are needed when beginning biological life. The first is metabolism, the second is growth, next is reaction to stimuli and the forth is reproduction. The zygote carries out all of these. It is coming from the union of the female ovum and male sperm and resulting in a new individual. It now has its own distinctive genetic code with forty-six chromosomes that is not the mother’s or father’s.
