William Lloyd Garrison was an abolitionist. He singly handedly spread his feelings throughout Boston with his newspaper the Liberator and also started the Anti-Slavery society. He made it no secret he hated slavery and everything about it. He spoke aggressively against it and the people who scolded him for being so aggressive. His biggest problem with it seems to be the morality and to satisfy his countrymen; it defied the Declaration of Independence. “All men are created equal…” burned in his mind. He very much believed that and was not going to be silenced until slaves were free. He felt you shouldn’t stop someone from saving their house or kids, so how should this be any different. He also spoke out for women’s rights, even having women join his anti-slavery society. He was highly persecuted, but it did not matter to him because the truth of matters and even more so that justice would prevail before he was silenced.
