Good morning ladies and gentleman. Firstly, I would like to bring to your notice that our environment is becoming more and more polluted due to development. The focus of my talk today is more on the depletion of forests and its effects. You and I know for a fact that our forests are continuously being depleted at an alarming rate.
Forests are cleared mainly to accommodate new housing estates and industrial parks. With the advancement of science and technology, Malaysia is becoming an industrial country, hence the need to build more and more factories. When there is a concentration of factories in one area, then the area becomes polluted by the waste products and smoke, which are released into the atmosphere.
The polluted air causes a lot of health problems for people. The oxygen level in the air is also dropping, once again due to deforestation. When there are lesser trees, the production of oxygen is lessened and people develop breathing difficulties, asthmatic attacks and common colds...
