Advertising and propaganda are both usually referred to as two different things. With two different meanings, they both go hand-in-hand. Advertising is the activity of attracting public attention to a product or business, as by paid announcements in the print, broadcast, or electronic media. Companies use advertising in order to sell their products to the public. On the other hand, propaganda is the information that is spread for the purpose of promoting some cause. Although it is still done today, this was most commonly used in recruiting people for wars and such in the earlier days. Propaganda is seen everyday and commonly unnoticed. It is a persuasive phrase or attention-grabber that is usually one sided.
