Preparation: Warm-up on treadmill: Lizzy will do a warm-up on a treadmill. For the first 5 minutes she will be going at walking pace then after 5 minutes she will do her usual warm-up of 11mph for 20 minutes then slowly she will decrease her speed and go back to walking pace. After this warm-up she will stretch her muscles. Testing Cardio vascular endurance The most important component of fitness for a middle distance runner is cardio vascular endurance. To test Lizzy’s cardio vascular endurance she could have done one of the three following tests the step test, the cooper test or the bleep test. The cooper test would have taken too long and the bleep test would involve equipment so we decided that she would do the step test. Lizzy’s resting heart rate was 60bpm and her heart rate after the step test was 66bpm.
