The American Dream is something that has brought immigrants from all over the world to America. America has always been said to be the land of opportunity, the land of the free, the home of the brave. In Of Mice and Men the two main characters, Lennie and George strive to achieve the American Dream. These two men center their whole life on achieving the American Dream and in the end the idea of the American Dream is what keeps them from achieving it. Steinbeck uses George and Lennie to debunk this myth of the American dream.
The first time we hear of George and Lennie's plans is in the beginning of the book. George and Lennie have thought about everything that they are going to have on their farm once they make enough money. Lennie and George both have the whole story memorized.
