TETANUS
1. Cause of the disease.
Tetanus is caused by an exotoxin(neurotoxin) produced by the anaerobic bacterium. It typically arises from a skin wound that becomes contaminated by a bacterium called CLOSRIDUM TETANI. Once the bacterium is in the body they produce a neurotoxin known as tetanospasm.
2. How is it transmitted?
Tetanus is transmitted into the body usually through a puncture wound contaminated with soil, street dust, lacerations, and burns, trivial or unnoticed wounds or by injected street drugs.
