President Clinton
William Jefferson Clinton was the first democratic president, since FDR to be reelected to a second term. Clinton also took on the largest fiscal deficit in American history and turned it into a surplus. Equally important was the speed of economic growth and low inflation. As was low interest and unemployment rates. On a lower note, Clinton was only the second president in American history to be impeached.
In 1992 Clinton defeated President Bush to become the 42nd President of the United States of America. As president-elect, Clinton vowed to focus on economic issues, especially trying to overcome the sluggish growth of the economy. In 1993 Clinton's economic package passed both houses of congress without a single republican vote. Clinton's economic policy lowered the deficit by more than $80 billion from 1992 to 1994.
