THE ABDUCTION FROM THE SARAGLIO by W.A.MOZART
When Mozart composed The Abduction from the Seraglio in 1782, he was approximately twenty six years old, and he was deeply in love with Konstanze Weber, who was his fiance whom he named the heroine of the story of the opera after . As a result to his love to her, his happiness in his life delighted the music of the opera. The librettist of the opera Gottleib Stephanie the Younger had arrived in Vienna during the Seven Years' War as a Prussian prisoner of war. Since that time he had made a successful career for himself as an actor and dramatist. Just before Mozart's arrival in Vienna, Stephanie had been put in charge of the National Singspiel, a project in which Emperor Joseph II took a keen interest. Joseph himself was who suggested the subject of Mozart's new opera. The libretto of the opera came to Stephanie and Mozart ready-made.
