Probably Mozart was affected by the Ottoman “mehter” visiting Vienna from time to time and as a result he used mostly percussion instruments and created his way of Turkish music which is more exotic than it really is.
The Abduction from the Seraglio was composed during the rule of German Emperor Joseph the 2nd and ironically at that time German-Ottoman relationships had the worst crisis of all.
