The issue of research involving stem cells derived from human embryos is increasingly the subject of a national debate. This issue in confronted daily in laboratories by scientists and it is agonized by parents and church-goers alike. All of which coming to a different conclusion. But what exactly are stem cells? They are cells with the ability to divide for indefinite periods in culture and to give rise to specialized cells. Embryonic Stem Cells are those stem cells that are extracted from a harvested embryo or taken from fetuses that are aborted. Stem cells divide to produce specialized cells that can produce certain tissues. It is a basic biological understanding that stem cells produce specialized cells, these specialized cells produce certain tissues such as organ tissues or muscle tissues, these tissues produce organs or muscles, and these organs and muscles produce organ systems and muscle systems that fabricate the body.
