The main character was Erin Brockovich, played by Julia Roberts. Erin has three kids, has been divorced twice, and has no education after high school. After being injured in a car accident that was no her fault, Erin went to Masry & Vititoe Law Firm looking for help with her trial. She was counting on winning her trial for money to raise her kids with, but lost. She then searched newspapers endlessly looking for a job but had no luck. Erin marched back into her lawyer's office and demanded a job; since it was his fault she lost the case. Masry then gave her a job as a file clerk. Although Erin was smart, hard working, persuasive and straight forward, she was not cut out for an office job.
