The French and Indian war was fought in three places, North America, India, and Europe. In 1754 hostitlity began when colonial Virginia clashed with French forces for control of Ohio Valley. East of the Mississippi had valuable land. French won many victories, most important was the ambush of General Edward Braddock, as he marched against Fort Ducane. He was ambushed because he didn't understand the Indians.
The long term results of the French and Indians loosing to the Americans and English was that France was uliminated as a power in North America. France cedes to Spain all of her claims, West of Mississippi as well as New Orleans. Britain gets off French claims east of Mississippi except for New Orleans.
It also affected the relationship between the Americans and British. The Americans gained self confidence and valuable military experience...
