1.Lawrence was a passionately moral writer with a philosophic conviction to impress upon his reader. Express concisely the important ideas you think he was trying to communicate in “The Rocking-Horse Winner”

The short story, “The Rocking-Horse Winner” was a literature that contained the morals that every adults in today’s society should comprehend and adhibit in their lives. The story is about a boy who tries to help his greedy mother fulfill her dream of becoming rich and lucky by betting on winning horses that he mysteriously discovers as he rides his rocking horse that takes him to the imaginary place where he gets to find out the winning horse. Unfortunately, the mother’s unlimited lust for wealth causes the boy to have a mental illness which eventually leads to the boy’s tragic death. Although, the synopsis is very simple, there are many consequential and philosophical ideas that are conveyed to the readers. The three main ideas that are perceived after reading the story have tremendous influence on the lives of modern people of which the first of them is the famous saying, “Money is the root of all evil”.
