The callings of Abraham and Moses each dealt with moving to a new area, whereas the calling of Samuel saw God taking control of Israel again, through him. Abraham's calling was to move his family to the region of Canaan from Mesopotamia, Moses' calling was to lead a nation of people to Canaan from Egypt, where they had initially been called, and Samuel was put in a position of great power in God's land.
Abraham was called to move his family to the Promised Land, where his descendants would eventually outnumber the stars in the sky. Abraham could not understand because his wife, Sarai, was barren and could not conceive. This prevented Abraham from completely relying on the word of God. God's promises to Abraham were known as the covenant. The covenant was consistently "forgotten" during his journeys. This slowed down the whole process and persistently prevented God's people from settling down in the Promised Land. The same situation was also seen in the calling of Moses.
