One of the major ways in which president Bush has affected the economy is by staying idle during a time in which we have a rising unemployment rate, and a rise in low- income jobs with meager benefits. Many people in this country have been affected by it.
Although it may be easy for some people to find jobs, others aren't so lucky. According to a study done by USC, there are about 400 to 500 children living in the half dozen hotels that occupy skid row. Many of these children are exposed daily to prostitutes, drug dealers, people with mental disabilities, one sixteen year old girl even said she's witnessed a murder. According to their study, USC says that children living on skid row are more likely to develop behavioral problems, drug habits, chronic illnesses, depression, and asthma. "The entire community needs to come together and put an end to this crisis," says Grace Dryerness, associate director of USC's center for religion and civic culture.
Because life is so hard for these people, they are the ones who to turn to the life of crime more often then others. On the Ford hotel in E.7th St alone there has been 111 crime reports, and 21 arrests have been made by police in the last 19th months...
