Leadership is the role an individual takes to lead a group to achieve a common goal. Leaders emerge when situation or events call for someone to step up and take charge. There are two distinct approaches to leadership, transformational and transactional. In the transactional approach, the leader makes and exchange with his followers or worker. For example, an employer would exchange wages to his workers for the labor. The transactional approach deals with individual's motivation to achieve some type of reward or as in incentive to succeed and not be punished. The transformational approach allows the leader to motivate and raise level of morality within a group. The concept of transformational leadership is that individuals can be empowered to do great things. People can encourage and motivate each other to accomplish the set task.
