The measurement of weight is proven to be accurate by various forms of calculation. BMI and the Seven Point Skin fold are only two of the various forms available. BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is calculated with simple math using inches and pounds, or meters and kilograms and The Seven Point Skin fold measurement gives you an estimate of your percent of body fat and lean body mass based on your weight, age and thickness measurements of seven skin folds. Both tactics have been proven to be accurate by different groups. Although, opinions differ as normality would allow it, I believe that the BMI tactic is the more accurate of the two.
According to information provided by the WeighTrainer (a lean mass body calculator) The Seven Point Skin fold is a measurement of seven different points of the body. The areas measured are the pectoral area, the abdominal region, the thigh area, the triceps, the sub scapular region, the suprailiac area, and the axilla. Each fold is measured in millimeters and the body fat is determined based on those measurements as well as the age and weight of each person. Although this form may sound accurate to some, I believe it falters because the height of a person is not a requirement. If someone is above average for their age in height then obviously the numbers after calculation would be incorrect...
