Week #4
On the date of September 21, 2004, the topic of discussion was newsgathering. To help elaborate on this the class watched a movie that dealt with two Washington journalists who were trying to find out the details to a story and went about investigating it themselves. It showed many of the errors that both journalists made while doing there research. I believed this movie to be beneficial in helping to show ways people can news gather and it brought up discussions on journalism ethics.
We also had our "First Campus News Story" due this week. I wrote mine on the Gresselli Library and how it has went from using LAN to wireless networking for their computer systems. I enjoyed writing this article; I was able to talk to some of the library reference people and received a consensus for supporting this computer change.
Our second news clip was due on September 23, 2004 and it dealt with a local news story with and interesting or unusually effective lead. Mine was about a man who actually ended up sleeping in the place he worked. It had a very effective and catchy lead...
