According to Fay Weldon, a British novelist, said that” The writers, I do believe, who get the best and most lasting response from readers are the writers who offer a happy ending through moral development. By a happy ending, I do not mean mere fortunate events: a marriage or a last-minutes rescue from death; but some kind of spiritual reassessment or moral reconciliation, even with the self, even t death.” To me this “happy ending” that he speaks of is how the book Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston ends. During the book, the main character Janie is looking for a love that is like no other. Through out the novel she tells her life story to a friend Pheoby.
