“Excuse Me. Excuse me, Ms?” I kept hearing a guy call out in the background. I finally turned around and realized that this guy was actually talking to me. Little did I know that once I turned around I would be meeting the love of my life. His name was Derek Garcia, had black hair with a little bit of gray in it, but it looked sophisticated. His skin was white and he had the cutest rosy red cheeks I had ever seen. His eyes though, were gorgeous; they had depth. However, it was not love at first sight. You see, I was the social butterfly on campus. I knew everyone and everyone knew me. I was in every organization and club that I could think of and he was the new kid on campus. He had just transferred from the Colorado School of Mines, so apart from being good looking, he was smart and he wanted to be involved on campus. On that day we talked for a while about one of the many organizations I was involved in and I asked him if he wanted to go to a party the following weekend. He accepted and gave me his phone number so I could call him with all the details of the party. A couple of days later I called him. We spoke about the details of the party and I told him that I would see him there. He showed up and I later found out that the reason he went to the party was because he wanted to get to know me better. Unfortunately, at the time I had a boyfriend.
