John Locke and The Declaration of Independence
Many pieces of writing have been inspired by underlying matters such as:
current events and specific people. The writing of The Declaration of
Independence was caused by not only the tyranny brought forth by King George
III, but also the ideas of John Locke. In essence it was no suprise that John
Locke's Second Treatise on Civil Government was the foundation for The
Declaration of Independence because his ideas made them aware of the tyranny
that was occurring and told of a way to break free from King George III. The
Declaration of Independence was written in a very close relation to John Locke's
Second Treatise on Civil Government.
By reading The Declaration of Independence it is clearly evident that the
ideas of equality are derived directly from John Locke's Second
Treatise on Civil Government. The Declaration of Independence states, " ... all
men are created equal..."...
