Relations Database Vs Object-oriented Databases
Databases technology is going through concentrated changes. Database vendors are moving toward extended support for additional data types. One approach is called object-oriented database processing (OOP). This new development is offering advantages over the traditional programming. The new trend however, is not widely used by corporations or organizations. To date, there is not yet a manner in which an organization can convert from the traditional relational database model to object-oriented model. The use of object-oriented model most likely will see widespread use with new applications as opposed to converting their current applications from relational database model. As organizations try to keep a competitive advantage, understanding the differences and similarities between relational database and object-oriented database is paramount.
