Thomas Jefferson's ideal vision of a government that would make it possible for it's citizens to have the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness has not yet been achieved in the United States. It is because of the Declaration of Independence, which Jefferson wrote in 1776, that the rights of the citizens have improved a great deal. But they have not yet been achieved. Every citzen has the right to life, liberty, and the pusuit of happiness, but they dont fully have these rights. Citizens may have the right to life, but do they really live? It might say that they have the right to liberty, but are they really free? And of course, who can deny you the right to pursuit of happiness? the government can. If the government denies something that you feel can make you truly happy because they feel it's unconstitutional, it is denying you the right to pursuit of happiness.
To my knowledge, the right to pursuit of happiness means you have the right to pursue something that you know will make you happy...
