Atkinson and Shiffrin’s model have both advantages and disadvantages and therefore weaknesses and strengths to them, and therefore in order to conclude whether the extent of the criticisms by psychologists is sufficient, I would have to see how much criticism there actually is. ... Finally I would have to also say that the model has been supported by a lot of psychological tests and studies which could very much contradict other critical research, such as for instance Miller’s study of capacity, as well as Peterson and Peterson’s study of duration in STM in 1959, which both support Atkinson and
Shiffrin’s multi store model.
