Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code is in a class all its own when it comes to suspense novels. This novel raises a lot of theological and historical questions that have caused all sorts of controversy. There are several religious and right wing conservative groups that are on the war path trying to disprove this novel. Isn't that kind of funny? They are trying to disprove a novel, a work of fiction; because no matter how you look at it The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction, and a pretty good one at that. A reader of The Da Vinci Code will enjoy it ten times more if they take it for what it is: a well written, suspenseful, thrilling novel. A reader must also analyze the reasons why Brown's novel is such a masterpiece. Dan Brown successfully creates a mood and atmosphere of conspiracy and deception that completely enslave the reader. Dan Brown also creates an excellent tone and pace with his word choice and word size. Brown also utilizes the tool of info-tainment; he mixes fact with fiction, and half-truths, and exaggerations to create a thick web of conspiracy that keeps any suspense fan hungry for more...
