Bahlsen GmbH: Planning and Organizing For Transformation
Werner Michael Bahlsen and Lorenz Bahlsen are the third generation majority owners of a consumer products company. After hundreds of years of operations and a steady minimal growth, Werner and Lorenz knew there had to be a company-wide transformation. Their major concern was the route to take in order to achieve desired results and the tasks needed to be accomplished along the way. Another huge obstacle they'll encounter before this so called, "Impetus Transformation" will even begin is the fact that they'll have to figure a strategy of planning and organizing up to 5 large-scale projects simultaneously with managing hundreds of associates and consultants while in the process improving current performance. Upon careful consideration, key decisions were made on exactly how Bahlsen would transform itself. Through an agreed corporate vision and strategic intent will enable Bahlsen to have a single goal for all to focus towards attaining. The management board (UL) and country/business directors (GL) were very stern about the intention to be a dominant European snack company in its' chosen market. From the time of Bahlsen's decision to change nine months had past and they knew they needed a new organizational framework, a comprehensive program management system and a detailed action plan.
