Most people have heard of the case of Sybil Dorsett, but do we really know about the disorder she had? Sybil Dorsett had Dissociative Identity Disorder, also known as Multiple Personality Disorder. Dissociative Identity Disorder is one of the four major mental health problems of today, along with depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia.
Dissociative Identity Disorder is a psychological disorder where dissociation takes place. So what is dissociation, one might ask. Dissociation is when the normal connection between a person's thoughts, memories, feelings, actions, and sense of identity is not present. In easier terms, dissociation is when a part of your mind branches off and forms, basically, another personality.
