1. In which ways Foucault's in History of Sexuality have contributed to shape queer theory? Identify the main issues and concepts addressed and challenged by queer theory.
When second-wave feminism first started out, theorists tried to change the concept of gender. Instead of people seeing gender as a biological obligation, they saw gender as a social construct. Therefore, gender was not essential to one's identity, to one's self. From this stems the notion of a reformulated sexuality. While it is easier to see gender as a social construct, by examining people that break gender barriers, it's still odd to imagine sexuality in the same way.
