Their Angel
There are many problems involving teens in the United States, and one such issue is teen pregnancy. "Every year in the United States, one million teenage girls become pregnant ("Teen Pregnancy")". Becoming pregnant at a young age can be frightening, especially when it was planned. When my close friend, Sarah, found out she was pregnant at the end of our sophomore year of high school, she had the complete support of her family, friends, and the father of the baby. Not many teens are lucky enough to have such a support system. Going through a pregnancy at the age of seventeen takes an enormous toll on the relationship of the mother and father of the unborn child, particularly with the uncertainties that come with a very premature baby.
"About 85% of pregnancies are unplanned (Weiss)", and my friend Sarah was no exception. She was seventeen and her boyfriend, Jason, was eighteen. They had been together over a year and had been through problems of their own. At times, their fights were more extreme than most couples their age...
