Chlordiazepoxide, also known as Librium, is an anitanxiety and a Benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines are minor tranquilizers used to treat anxiety, nervousness, tension, and other emotional illness. However, benzodiazepines should not be used to relieve nervousness or tension caused by the stress of everyday life. Benzodiazepines may be habit-forming, causing psychological or physical dependence, especially when taken for a long time or in high doses. Also used to treat symptoms of acute alcoholic withdrawals. Librium can also be classified as a depressant, sedative, and hypnotic because it, slows down and impairs thinking, reduces nervous tension, and induces sleep. It is highly addictive and recommended only to be used for short-term use.
Side effects range from a minor headache to the more serve and rare closing of your throat. Librium has been none to commonly cause drowsiness, confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, difficulty urinating, constipation, fainting, increased or decreased sex drive, liver problems, lack of muscle coordination, minor menstrual irregularities, nausea, headache, skin rash , swelling of lips or face or tongue, yellowing of eyes and skin. More serve effects usually brought on upon by abrupt withdrawal of Librium are abdominal and muscle cramps, convulsions, exaggerated feeling of depression, sleeplessness, sweating, tremors, vomiting, staggering, blurred vision, dry mouth, racing heartbeat, shaking , slurred speech, memory loss, trembling, and hallucinations...
