Discuss what it means to study cities from the political economy perspective.
Firstly, it is not the physical items like cash which make up the economic dimension of culture, but the ideas and behavior which give value to cash by the people who have created the economic systems they use. Studying cities from the political economy perspective would then emphasize how political and economic institutions affect the city's physical forms, cultural norms and social relations. There are also political, economic and social conflicts that arises in cities and from the political economy perspective, such aspects would be analyzed. Job opportunities, equality among individuals and segregation are other aspect that could be considered when studying a city from the political economic perspective.
